Retrospective: April 2008

I do remember that weekend. I’d planned to go to the Hamfest in West Fargo, but we had a blizzard and my ride didn’t work out; Barb Schultz was home with a sick kid. This year’s Hamfest was postponed until fall (August? September?) because of the spring flood.

Life abounds with accommodation, compromise, and last-minute scrambling for alternatives, even for those who try to plan for every eventuality. Sometimes our goals have to shift a bit, because of an unexpected closed door that cannot be reopened. Sometimes it is our picture of ourselves that we must change. We are not who we thought we were…whether we ourselves have changed or we never were that person.

  1. I’ve noticed this tendency for life to change in unexpected ways. It can be delightful if you’re lucky, and devastating if you’re unlucky. It always keeps things “interesting,” tho. {lop-sided smile}
